Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents the player's initial trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
Success also means he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.
The player's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
Both players exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour title, took control to force a final set.
He saved four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
